Have any of you ever been to a Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar? If you have then will you know that is absolute heaven to all beauty addicts. It houses everything from the big make up brands like MAC Cosmetics, NARS and Bobbi Brown to skincare gurus like Elemis, Dermalogica and Origins to fragrance experts like Jo Malone as well as having an in house hairdressers, nail salon, champagne bar and a number of spa treatment rooms. The Beauty Bazaar is absolutely huge spanning across three floors with the most beautiful decor. It is super chic with the right amount of glitz and glam. I can happily spend an entire day perusing the store so when the lovely Rebecca (she does all the amazing treatments for Origins) asked me if I wanted to come in to the store for a complimentary facial, make over and manicure – I jumped at the chance. Truth be told, I had never ventured any further up the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar than the ground floor so I was so excited and super intrigued. I was all booked in for the 2nd March from 2:00pm onwards. My first port of call was Origins…
Sadly, I had woke up on Saturday with the worst cold but Rebecca really looked after me. She took me to one of the beautifully decorated treatment rooms which was playing some seriously relaxing music. I could have happily drifted off in to the most peaceful sleep. The facial that I had is called the Origins High Performance Recharge Facial and it normally costs £65.00, however (and this is the best bit) it is completely redeemable on products which I think is amazing. It really wouldn’t be difficult to spend £65.00 on Origins products – would it? (You can opt for a 30 minute facial for £15.00 which is also redeemable on products).
Rebecca started off with a consultation based around my current skincare routine, my skin type and my skin concerns so that she could pick and adapt the products that she used accordingly. She began with removing the eye make up that I had on by using Well Off Eye Make Up Remover. After this, she proceeded to cleanse my face using Zero Oil Cleanser which is an ideal product for people like me that have extremely oily skin. The Zero Oil range has the most amazing scent combining mint with saw palmetto (so good that I bought the whole lot… oops). Rebecca then followed this up with a product called Modern Friction which contains lemon and rice bran and is a great exfoliator. It is quite thick but can be watered down and it really gets in there removing all those dead skin cells. I was quite happy to hear that I am doing the right thing when it comes to exfoliating by only doing it twice a week. She then moved on to toning my skin with United States Toner which is a good all rounder for oily and dry skin. With me having a cold, my skin was slightly dry around my nose and chin so this worked really well for my entire face. Rebecca talked me through each of the products as she was going along and explained the benefits thoroughly. I am a massive skincare fan and I find things like this fascinating and Rebecca is so passionate about what she does. It’s so refreshing. After my skin has dried, she applied some Eye Doctor and No Puffery eye creams under and around my eyes before she began applying some face masks. She mixed Clean Energy Cleansing Oil with Clear Improvement and applied this to my oily and problematic areas and applied Drink Up to the areas that had become dry with me being under the weather. She then began to massage my face using a number of different techniques including lymphatic drainage to help clear my sinuses. This was followed by a shoulder, arm and hand massage and then a head and scalp massage using Ginger Spray. By this time, I was so relaxed that I was quite literally dozing off. Once the masks had done their job and they had been wiped off using a nice hot towel, Rebecca used Mega-Mushroom Toner which isn’t the greatest smelling product to a mushroom hater but it sure does leave the skin feeling nice, clean and refreshed. This was followed by Gin Zing Eye Cream (a beauty blogger favourite), Mega-Mushroom Serum and lastly, Zero Oil Lotion to finish the facial off and lock in moisture.
All in all, the facial took around 80-90 minutes and for someone with sensitive and temperamental skin, I had a lot of concerns before going in – would it cause break outs? Would it irritate my skin? You know what guys, I really didn’t need to worry. My skin felt clean, rejuvenated and refreshed whilst looking brighter, healthier and more radiant. The facial didn’t cause any kind of breakout and my skin still feels incredibly smooth and soft two days later. It also really helped with my cold. I am extremely impressed and I recommend everyone go and get themselves booked in. I’ve already booked in for my second facial in four weeks time, I was that impressed.
If you quote erinlouisehunt blog at the Origins counter you can get a free mini facial and sample (subject to availability). This can only to be used at Liverpool’s HN Beauty Bazaar.
Next up, the make up and for this I went to see Faye on the Lancôme counter on the ground floor…
Before starting on my make up, Faye asked a little bit about what I wanted to do with my look and what I normally do with my make up on a day to day basis. I’m not overly clued up on Lancôme being completely honest so I was really excited about trying all of the different products considering that they are also completely new to me. Faye used Lancôme Teint Miracle 010 Beige Porcelaine for my base which provided a really natural, lightweight and dewy finish on my skin. It felt extremely comfortable to wear. Actually, it didn’t feel like I was wearing any make up at all. Faye then followed up the look with the Teint Miracle Highlighter which she used to brighten my eyes, hiding any dark circles as well as highlighting my cheek and brow bones. I wanted to keep the look quite simple so we opted for a nice coat of Hypnôse Drama Mascara, a tiny amount of coral blusher and a nice pop of colour with a bold red lip using L’Absolu Rouge 132 which was highly pigmented, moisturising and had a really nice shine to it. This was the perfect look for me as I tend to keep my make up quite neutral and simple but I always like to add colour to my lips. I am a lipstick hoarder after all.
After my facial and make over, it was back up to the first floor to see the ladies at Nails Inc…
When I was contacted about getting an express mani as party of my fun-filled day at the Beauty Bazaar, I was absolutely devastated as I had just walked out of my local beauty salon with nails full of shellac. Instead of it going to waste, I asked if my sister could have it. My sister is a nurse and she doesn’t get the opportunity to have her nails done often so I thought it’d be a nice treat for her considering she was about to start a week of annual leave. The colour that she opted for (as pictured above) was Devonshire Row which is such a perfect colour for Spring. It is the colour of the year ‘Radiant Orchid’ and it is absolutely gorgeous. We spent such a long time trying to pick out the colour as they have walls upon walls of different shades, finishes, textures – it is incredible. It only costs £18.00 and if you want to keep the polish, it’s £25.00. Awesome, right? Especially if you’re lazy like me and hate painting your own nails. You can literally have anything from your average manicure and pedicure to gel and acrylics nails. The amazing ladies at Nails Inc gifted me their new Spring/Summer collection of nail varnishes which contains an amazing range of pretty pastels; blues, oranges, pinks, the whole lot. These will be featuring in their own post with swatches so watch this space.

Whilst all this was going on, there was music playing and waiters walking around with champagne and tasty cocktails. I had a nice gin, elderflower and cranberry cocktail which was absolutely delicious. You can also sit down at the bar on the first floor and have a drink, cup of tea or coffee – whatever floats your boat. My sister was driving so she had a nice cup of chamomile tea.
Honestly girls, you need to check it out! I thank all the lovely staff at HN Beauty Bazaar for looking after me – I had the most amazing day!
