Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet Foundation in B30.
Let’s start today with the newest foundation to hit the Chanel stands, shall we? Perfection Lumiere Velvet is described as a ‘lightweight second-skin that smoothes and evens out the complexion for velvety matte results’. Being an oily skinned lass, I do love a good foundation that boasts a velvety matte finish. Why? Because it keeps the oil at bay obviously. What I do worry about with mattifying foundations is that they can have tendency to make your skin look a little flat. Nobody wants that, do they? Hell no! How did Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere Velvet get on? Really well actually… It is incredibly lightweight and certainly warrants the ‘second skin’ label, I have never used a foundation that feels so fresh and light on the skin than this. It didn’t look remotely cakey and it didn’t make my skin look flat whatsoever. It looks unbelievably natural and it feels as though you aren’t wearing any make up at all. I love just how comfortable it is to wear. The coverage is very sheer so as you can imagine, it doesn’t keep the oil at bay all day but it does offer some pretty decent wear time. The foundation itself is incredibly watery and I would seriously recommend giving the bottle a really good shake before you apply it to your skin. I like to squirt some on to the back of my hand before picking it up with a stippling brush and blending. It applies like an absolute dream too. Swoons…
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation in B30.
Vitalumiere Aqua is very similar to Perfection Lumiere Velvet in the fact that it offers a very sheer, natural and lightweight second skin. Where this foundation differs is with the finish, Vitalumiere Aqua leaves a gorgeous glow to your skin that isn’t too dewy or too shiny – it is just right. It is a great foundation for the normal/combination skin types. I personally found that this foundation offered slightly (and I mean ever so slightly) more coverage than it’s mattifying sister foundation which I really liked. This product also has a very watery consistency so again, I’d recommend a good shake before you start applying. I find that both of these foundations make ideal bases for the Spring and Summer months as they really give that ‘my skin but better’ look to your complexion without feeling remotely heavy. I like to wear these foundations on my ‘no make up’ make up days to give my skin a breather from the heavier foundations I usually wear. I found that both foundations had a decent amount of wear time and they both smell absolutely incredible. Think that fabulous holiday sun cream scent… Divine.
I adore the packaging of these Chanel foundations, I prefer them to the normal glass bottles that you’d normally associate the brand (think Le Blanc De Chanel). They’re cute, they’re travel friendly and they are super easy to use. One squeeze of the tube and out comes the product – it’s not wasteful which I love. In terms of comparing the two foundations, they are both incredible, offering sheer, natural and lightweight coverage but I have to admit, I prefer the Perfection Lumiere Velvet any day of the week. I just love that soft velvety finish that works in perfect harmony with my oil slick complexion. I can’t get enough. One thing I did find with these foundations is that they’re not particularly angry red blemish friendly due to the barely there coverage so not good for the bad skin days but thankfully they are few and far between.
If you like your make up to look au naturel with some decent longevity then these foundations are definitely for you. The question is… Are you a matte or dewy kinda gal? I sometimes like to mix them… Best of both worlds? Call me crazy! They could not be anymore perfect for this time of year! These foundations retail at £33.00 each which is a little pricey but hey, it’s Chanel darling. What would else would you expect?
