I’ve been pretty much M.I.A this week as real life seems to have gotten in the way of my beloved blogging. August has been a pretty rough month for me but here’s to a better September… *raises glass* This months beauty favourites contain a mixture of oldies but goodies and some brand spanking new products that I have fallen head over heels for.
First up, I just have to mention the YSL Fusion Ink Foundation (Link, £30.50), it is absolutely phenomenal and I have been raving about it all month ever since the lady at the YSL counter in Boots gave me some samples. It offers medium-full coverage with a semi-matte finish and it is perfect for my oily and blemish prone skin. It was literally love at first application and as soon as it was released, I went back to Boots and snapped it up straight away. Another new release that I’ve adored this month has been Revlon’s ColorStay Moisture Stains (Link, £7.99). If you read my blog regularly then you’ll know that I dislike lipgloss but these are wonderful. They have the gloss of a lipgloss but without the stick or tackiness. They feel like a luxurious balm and are packed with pigmentation. Revlon are knocking it out of the park with all their releases these days. It’s seriously impressive. Aside from the Moisture Stains, I have been resorting to an trusted old favourite lip combination in the form of MAC Cosmetics Velvet Teddy (Link, £15.50) and MAC Cosmetics Hug Me (Link, £15.50) for everyday wear in work. Velvet Teddy is my all time favourite matte nude and when you apply Hug Me which is a lustre finish over the top, it just works. It is just perfect. A few other beauty products that I’ve come back to this month have been KIKO Color Fever Quad in 100 (Link, £13.90) and Chanel Le Blanc De Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base (Link, £31.00) . The colour quad is a wonderful neutral palette that offers four gorgeous, buttery soft, complimentary neutral colours that work wonderfully together. I have been reaching for this palette nearly every day. The Chanel primer really helps keep my make up in place and stops it from looking flat. It gives your skin a wonderful lit from within glow and a little really goes a long way too.
Now moving away from the make up, let’s talk about my skincare and hair care favourites, shall we? The beauty world saw a new release from Vichy this month as part of their Normaderm range called Night Detox (Link, £15.50). It is formulated for oily and blemish prone skin to help stop the skin from producing excess sebum overnight and it really works. My skin feels clean and blemish free when I wake up – what more could I want? When it comes to night creams, it doesn’t get any better for me than Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins (Link, £34.50). I have both the normal and the oil free versions and swap and change depending on what my skin needs before I go to bed. The moisturiser smells heavenly and it really hydrates and nourishes the skin, it absorbs well and it doesn’t cause me to break out. It is incredible. I have recently purchased Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Natural Bronze Spray Lotion (Link, £7.99) and I am super impressed. I’ve always been a big fan of Palmer’s moisturisers but this has a little bit of tanning involved which I love. I do wear fake tan regularly. This comes in a spray bottle and I am all about the spray bottles lately because well, I’m lazy and they save on time. They’re convenient, easy to use with no fuss or mess. You literally spray it on to your skin, rub it in and away you go. It also happens add some lovely colour to your skin without any streaking or patchiness. Lastly is one of my hair care favourites and I have just discovered that it comes in a handy little tube that fits perfectly in your bag to carry around with you, Toni & Guy Classic Shine Gloss Serum (Link, £2.19). I have really short hair (as I’m sure you all know) which is quite frizzy and unruly and can be really hard to style without some help. This has been my go to serum of choice for years now and I am so happy that they have a little handbag version for touch ups on the go. It adds fantastic shine to your hair without it looking greasy and it feels really lightweight.
What have been your August favourites?
