When we start to enter the Autumn and Winter months, I always need a little more help in the make up department and my requirements for a foundation become much more extensive. However I know that I can always turn to my holy grail foundation which is the much loved and much coveted Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation. The fuller coverage, flawless finish and immense staying power is exactly what I need and quite frankly, no other foundation can live up to that standard in my opinion. Well, I’m yet to find a foundation to rival its magnificence shall we say? Recently when my blotting powder of choice ran out (Clarins Ever Matte Mineral Powder), I decided to look for something a bit more heavy duty. The air conditioning in work does the weirdest things to my skin and nothing seems to want to keep the oil at bay, not even the Double Wear Foundation that used to at least get me through a 7.5 hour shift. I found that the Clarins powder I loved so dearly just wasn’t cutting the mustard anymore. Whilst I was picking up my new foundation in Debenhams, I decided to go back to an old and trusted favourite – Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder in the shade 2C3 Fresco to match my foundation. It is a “worry-free powder make up that stays fresh, looks natural and won’t change colour” – sign me up! I hadn’t used this powder in so long, I mean we’re talking years and I had forgotten just how wonderful it is in all honesty and I’m glad that I picked it up. I love really love it when you rediscover an old favourite. The powder is super absorbent which is ideal for my oilier than oily skin (I mean serious sweat-face/wet-face level), it is silky soft and it sits really comfortably on the skin whilst looking totally flawless. What I love most about Estée Lauder’s Double Wear range is their ability to transform your skin in to something that is truly beautiful. It covers blemishes, redness and any imperfections like an absolute dream making me (and I’m sure many others) feel much more comfortable and confident with my skin. Plus it is an oily skinned saviour I tell you. The powder itself offers a semi-matte finish with medium to full coverage which can be built up depending on your needs. It is housed inside a really classy and chic looking navy blue compact with a really generously sized mirror inside and sponge applicator hidden under the powder. When I apply Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Powder over my make up, before I leave the house for work, I prefer to apply a light dusting of the powder with a brush to set my make up for the day. Whilst I’m in work and I need the occasional touch up, I use the sponge applicator provided to collect the powder before I dab it lightly on to the oilier/shinier areas of my face. Remember to dab and not drag as you don’t want to disrupt the make up underneath otherwise you’ll end up removing the make up instead of keeping it on. No one wants that now, do they? A patchy and uneven, half make up’d-half non make up’d face. It doesn’t even bare thinking about. Shudder. Estée Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder retails at £31.00 which is pretty standard for a high-end powder but I know that it can be a little pricey for those on a budget. They offer a wide range of colours too so there is definitely going to be a shade to match everyone. The question on the tip of your tongues I guess is ‘is it worth it?’ In my opinion, I’d have to say yes, especially if you have combination, oily or very oily skin. It puts a tick in every one of my boxes. Does it absorb oil? Yes. Does it offer good coverage? Yes. Is the finish right? Yes. Does it have good staying power? Yes.
Basically, just yes!
