When it comes to cosmetics and beauty, Guerlain are without doubt one of my favourite brands. Their products are always so luxurious, wonderful and come with the highest of quality. Not to mention the packaging that is so beautiful and absolutely divine. Everything is just gorgeous and so on point. I was given some vouchers recently in work for Selfridges and I knew exactly what I wanted to spend them on and that is on Guerlain. I thought I’d share with you my mini haul consisting of two lovely little products.
Guerlain Maxi Lash Mascara:
I have read many a rave review and had many a recommendation from my beauty blogger friends regarding mascara and Guerlain’s Maxi Lash Mascara always comes up trumps, top of the list and highly recommended. I am a fussy shopper when it comes to mascara and I often find myself trying so many of them and ultimately always left feeling disappointed at my short and sparse eyelashes. What a waste? Mascara is a vital part of any make up routine, especially mine, as sadly I wasn’t blessed with long and fluttering eyelashes. Sad, isn’t it? When I first opened the Maxi Lash Mascara box, I was absolutely stunned by the beauty of the bullet – look at all that shiny gold with the fantastic Guerlain calligraphy engraved across the front. Absolutely stunning. When it comes to packaging, Guerlain have got it down. When I first looked at the wand, I’ll be honest I wasn’t expecting miracles but as soon as I brushed the mascara on to my eyelashes, it totally transformed my entire face. It was love at first stroke of that wand. I’ve only ever found one mascara that gave me nearly everything that I wanted – volume, separation, pigmentation and length – but this did all of that, ticked all the boxes and then some. New favourite mascara alert? I think so! Swoon… Not only is the packaging chic and classy but this mascara offers fantastic length, amazing volume and it holds a curl like no mascara I’ve ever used before and it lasts all day. I only need two coats of this mascara and I’m good to go – it’s easily buildable without turning in to the dreaded spider lash. My eyelashes have never looked so good and I am totally blown away.
Guerlain Liquid Eyeliner:
Similarly to mascara, I’ve always been a little disappointed in the liquid eyeliner department and I always seek solace with a trusted old favourite – Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eyeliner. I decided to finally take the plunge and purchase Guerlain’s Liquid Eyeliner after I’d seen it doing the rounds on a number of my favourite blogs (Sarah I’m looking at you – you big enabler). I don’t normally make a habit of spending £25.00 on an eyeliner but this is an exception, something super special and I definitely deserved a little treat. I’ve noticed that more and more people are jumping on the Guerlain Eyeliner bandwagon and I decided to haul arse and jump on board. The liquid is housed inside a small frosted glass jar with a tall golden handle and that same fabulous Guerlain calligraphy engraved in to it. Can you just picture how amazing this little beauty would look on your dressing table? At the end of that long, golden handle is an extremely fine, thin brush that is incredibly easy to work with, making it so simple to create the most perfect flick or cat eye. The liquid itself is highly pigmented, intensely black and it applies completely opaque in one fine swoop. On first application it is pretty glossy but it dries semi-matte and pretty quickly at that. It has fantastic staying power – I mean this stuff doesn’t budge, fade or smudge all day. It looks just as pristine and precise coming home from work as it did the moment I first applied it before I left the house in the morning. It offers the most refined and classy finish – what more could you want? I am seriously impressed and this is definitely on the list of things that I need to repurchase along with the mascara. Both products have rapidly entered Holy Grail territory and you all know that I don’t use that term lightly.
Guerlain, what have you done to me? My bank balance is going to regret indulging in all of these wonderful things when the time comes to the restock.
