OGX Hydrate + Defrizz Kukui Oil Anti-Frizz Hydrating Oil – £7.35.
Many people think that because I have extremely short hair and a pixie cut that hair care isn’t all that important to me – they’d be wrong! Despite having next to no hair on my head, it is even more important that I get it right it with my hair products as there is zero hiding with bad hair days. Naturally my hair is quite dry and frizzy and even the slightest bit of humidity wreaks absolute havoc on my barnet, and I mean havoc. I have always perused the shampoo aisles at Boots and been a little underwhelmed by the OGX range, never reaching out to purchase any of their ranges until quite recently. The packaging of the Kukui Oil shampoo and conditioner really drew me in and when I read that it helps to hydrate and combat frizz, well I was sold. Kukui Oil is one of those world renowned ingredients that keeps cropping in the beauty world of late and I can see why. It is a Hawaiian secret (not so secret anymore) ingredient, the Kukui nut oil, that is humidity resistent, and locks in moisture which is why it is getting a name for itself in beauty. Not only that, but it smells absolutely incredible and it has been absolute god send to me of late – my hair really loves this stuff. I have been washing my hair every other day with this shampoo and conditioner, finishing off with the hydrating oil on damp hair, and I have seriously loved the results. My normally quite lacklustre looking hair has been looking really healthy, incredibly shiny and smooth totouch and in great condition overall. What I like most about this OGX shampoo and conditioner is that it feels super lightweight and it leaves behind zero residue. Can I get a hell yeah? I use the hydrating oil after every wash, giving my hair a good once over, before brushing and blow drying my hair to lock in that moisture and to add a little bit more oomph in the shine stakes. It also locks in the scent and ensures that the gorgeous Kukui Oil scent is left with you all day and boy, does it linger. It is divine.
Now for the downside… The packaging. As much as I find the packaging an absolute joy to look at, I love the classy and sleek look of the black and gold and the shape of the bottle is pretty unusual. It is horrendously impractical. When you are nearing the end of the shampoo/conditioner, the packaging and shape, makes it near impossible to get any of the product out. Countless times I’ve been in the bath/shower, raised my knee and had to squeeze relentlessly with both hands to try and get something to come out so that I can wash my hair. It’s just unnecessary. That being said I will still definitely repurchase these products and their pain in the backside packaging because I simply love the results. I think the price pretty reasonable for the product and you can always get a cheeky deal on hair care in Boots so keep a look out. I’m on my third lot already.
