During the Summer and whilst I was on my Roaccutane treatment, I was on the hunt for a lightweight foundation that would provide light to medium coverage but also be lightly hydrating as my skin was so dry and sensitive. At the time fluid foundations were really on trend and MAC Cosmetics had just released a new foundation in the form of their Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation which is completely different to any base they have released before. It was on all of the catwalks during fashion week and looked so fabulous on all of the models. I happen to like a lot of fluid-serum foundations such as YSL’s Fusion Ink Foundation and Bobbi Brown’s Intensive Serum Foundation so I took the plunge and I was hoping that I would like this one too. I was so excited to try this foundation as I do love a MAC foundation, particularly Studio Fix Fluid. Like most fluid foundations, MAC Cosmetics Studio Waterweight Foundation comes with a pipette kind of applicator so I like to dot it on to my hands and then apply it to my skin with a stippling brush or expert brush. You only need a very tiny amount to cover your entire face as the formula is very wet. I found that the foundation had a semi-matte finish and it blended really nicely in to my skin without clinging to any dry patches. Although the formula is said to be easy to build to offer medium coverage, I didn’t find that this was the case as the foundation was too sheer – oh so sheer. Far too sheer for me sadly, it just didn’t sit right on my skin at all which I found so disappointing. I really wanted to love it as it felt so nice on my skin, nicely hydrating and really lightweight. If my skin wasn’t so red and problematic, I’d probably love this foundation but I rely so much on decent coverage and this just didn’t offer that… Sheer, sheer, sheer! MAC Cosmetic’s Studio Waterweight SPF 30 Foundation contains a really high SPF (bonus) and comes in a wide variety of shades (24 in total). I really wanted this foundation to be a match made in heaven but alas, it wasn’t meant to be!
