MAC Cosmetics Lipsticks – £15.50 each.

Last week I shared my fragrance favourites for this time of year and now I’m going to share my lipstick favourites with you all. Lucky you, hey? It is all about the dark reds, deep berries, burnt oranges and intense purples at this time of year – the more vampy, the better in my opinion. Give me ALL the vamp. I’ve raided by ever growing MAC Cosmetics lipstick stash and I have pulled out a few of my absolute must haves for the Autumn and Winter period. There is a little something for everyone.

MAC Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in D for Danger – £15.50.

This weeks lipstick of the week is one of my favourites of late and I absolutely adore the colour. D for Danger is another lipstick from ‘The Matte Lip’ collection from MAC Cosmetics and it is described as a ‘brick red‘ but I find it to be more of a pink berry red than a brick red. It has cool and slightly pink tinged undertones where as I associate warm and slightly orange undertones with the colour of brick. It is a really great colour that applies completely opaque and smoothy – no tug here thank you very much. For a matte lipstick, I expected it to be quite drying but D for Danger is surprisingly creamy which makes it such a dream to apply. As with most other MAC lipsticks, this one is intensely pigmented and it wears really well on the lips for five hours or more. Pretty impressive eh? Once it starts to wear off, D for Danger settles in to a pretty gorgeous red-pink stain that looks equally as fabulous as the lipstick. This is my shade of choice for a night on the tiles this Winter – I love it. It also leaves your teeth looking super white thanks to the cool undertones.

Isn’t it pretty?? Will you be adding D for Danger to your lipstick collection this Winter?

MAC Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Men Love Mystery – £15.50.

Another week, another MAC Cosmetics lipstick taking over my blog. This weeks lipstick of choice is an absolute stunner – Men Love Mystery. It described by MAC as being a ‘lavendar violet’ shade with a matte finish and oh my word, I love it. If Up The Amp and Heroine were to get married and have a little lipstick baby, this would be it – it is a quite fabulous blend of the two in my opinion. It isn’t pale enough to be Up The Amp but not quite dark enough to be Heroine. Men Love Mystery is a vibrant medium purple with  warm undertones that has more of a semi-matte finish than completely matte. It is another lipstick taken from ‘The Matte Lip’ collection (oh how I love that range) and a shade that I just had to have in my ever-growing collection. It has a rather creamy texture that applies evenly and glides on to the lips effortlessly, no tug or pull here thank you. I found that because it wasn’t as matte as most MAC matte lipsticks are, it wasn’t drying at all but saying that, it wasn’t hydrating either – it was kind of middle ground. It wears insanely well and lasted on my lips for a good 4 or so hours before settling in to a gorgeous purple stain. I absolutely adore the colour – it is stunning and packs a punch with pigmentation. I will be wearing this on the regular so be warned! Like always, I recommend a nice slick of lip balm before application and a give your lips a good scrub. You don’t want this fabulous colour to be ruined by settling in to fine lines and clinging to dry patches. It deserves more than that people.

What are your thoughts on Men Love Mystery?

MAC Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Whirl – £15.5o.

Another week, another lipstick… Ahh the life of a lipstick hoarder, more lipstick than sense. Now we all know this one, don’t we? Oh yes! The lip pencil turned lipstick that took the world by storm once Kylie Jenner stepped out with her plump pink-brown pout and named it as her shade of choice. Ahh, Whirl. It was released as a lipstick earlier this year along with Stone (another lip pencil turned lipstick) as part of MAC Cosmetics ‘The Matte Lip’ collection and it has been a much welcome addition to my lipstick collection. I bloody love it. Whirl is described by MAC as a ‘dirty rose’ and it is definitely a dark, slightly brown tinged rose shade and it is right up my street. I live for these kinda lip colours y’know. I did own the original lip pencil first and boy, that took me forever to track down but I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the matching lipstick. It is a rich, fully opaque colour that glides effortlessly and evenly across the lips without any tug or pull. It wore really well for at least four and a half hours. Like most matte lipsticks from MAC, the formula can be slightly drying and sadly this lip shade is a little on the dry side. I would definitely recommend some lip balm and lip scrub pre-application to get the best looking lips. Whirl has quicky become my go to shade for daytime wear during this time of year – it is a truly beautiful colour that would look great against any skintone.

Did you instantly rush to buy Whirl after the Kylie Jenner frenzy too?

Mac Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Stone – £15.50.

I have loved Stone as a lip liner for as long as I can remember so when MAC Cosmetics decided to introduce the new matte lip collection and include Stone as a lipstick in it’s own right, I did a little squeal of excitement. I got my backside up out of bed, got the laptop out and logged straight on to the MAC website where I bagged not only Stone, but the much coveted Whirl as well. Why the hell not eh? Stone is described by MAC as a ‘muted greyish taupe‘ and it is exactly that. I have read on a number of reviews that Stone leans more towards the warm side but I found it to be a little cool on my lips. It appeared to be more of a medium brown in the bullet but I found that it defintely leant a bit more towards grey once applied and I absolutely adore the colour. I was worried at first that it might not match my skintone but I need not have worried, I adored the shade even more once I was wearing it. It did taking some getting used to though as it is quite different to the majority of lip colours I wear. The colour payout was phenominal which is pretty standard with the majority of MAC’s lipsticks which is why I am hoarding quite the collection. Teamed with the Stone lip liner, the lipstick had some incredible staying power to accompany the colour – it lasted on my lips for around 5 hours before settling in to a nice stain. I did find the finish to be more semi-matte than fully matte but in my opinion that is a bonus if anything, as it wasn’t as drying as the usual matte formula from MAC. I would still definitely recommend a fair bit of lip preparation before hand to get a nice even finish – get the lip scrub and lip balm at the ready folks! If your looking for a gorgeous shade for everyday wear this Autumn/Winter then I think Stone is definitely worth a swatch or two. It is a beautiful colour.

Do you think Stone deserves a place in your make up arsenal throughout the colder months?
